A member of the team will discuss your situation with you and if needed will offer a face-to-face mental health assessment.

National helplines

Domestic Violence Helpline
The helpline is run in partnership between Refuge and Women’s Aid. It is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week for women experiencing domestic violence. All calls are confidential. Call 0808 2000 247.

Samaritans
Available 24 hours a day to provide confidential emotional support for people who are experiencing feelings of distress, despair or suicidal thoughts. Call 116 123 or email jo@samaritans.org

Sane mental health helpline
SANE runs a national, out-of-hours mental health helpline offering specialist emotional support and information to anyone affected by mental illness, including family, friends and carers. Call 0300 304 7000, they are open every day of the year from 6pm to 11pm.

Age UK
Age UK provide services and support at a national and local level to inspire, enable and support older people. For information and advice, please contact 0800 169 6565.

Silverline
The Silver Line is the only free confidential helpline providing information, friendship and advice to older people, open 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Call

CAMHS Crisis Team

Our Child Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) crisis team covers Hull and the East Riding and operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This service is for young people (under 18) who are in crisis experiencing emotional distress and are struggling to cope. 

The CAMHS Crisis Team can be accessed through Hull & East Riding Contact Point (01482 303688/303810) between 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday excluding bank holidays and directly to the team outside these hours on 01482 301701 option 2.

Young Minds Parent Helpline

Young Minds offer free, confidential online and telephone support, including information and advice, to any adult worried about the emotional problems, behaviour or mental health of a child or young person up to the age of 25. Call 0808 802 5544 (Monday to Friday 9.30am-4pm) or email parents@youngminds.org.uk.

ChildLine

ChildLine is a private and confidential service for children and young people up to the age of 19. You can contact a ChildLine counsellor about anything -no problem is too big or too small. Feelings of suicide or self-harm

If you've had thoughts of self-harming or are feeling suicidal, please contact any of the following:

For depression and anxiety services, you can contact Let’s Talk on 01482 247111, or text TALK to 61825 or book an assessment online by visiting www.letstalkhull.org.uk/.  This service is operated by the City Healthcare Partnership where you will be offered a face-to-face assessment to work through what support you may need.

If you live in the East Riding

SilverCloud - Emotional Wellbeing Service

SilverCloud is a self-help package that gives you the tips and tools to be able to manage your own mental health and wellbeing. These tips and tools are based on a cognitive behavioural approach that helps you challenge your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. You can work through the series of topics to meet your needs. Learn more about SilverCloud here.

General health advice

Accident and Emergency (A&E)
A&E departments are for people with severe injuries or life threatening conditions such as:

  • loss of consciousness;
  • acute confused state and fits that are not stopping;
  • persistent, severe chest pain;
  • breathing difficulties;
  • severe bleeding that cannot be stopped.

999 should only be called in an emergency.

Out of Hours Service

NHS 111
You can now call 111 when you need medical help fast, but it's not a 999 emergency. You will be assessed, given advice and directed straightaway to the local service that can help you best. Available 24 hours, seven days a week.
