Inspire

Inspire is made up of two units to support young people ages 13-17 who need additional support in their journey. One ward is a General Adolescent Unit (GAU) and is made up of 9 ensuite bedrooms. The other ward is a Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) which has 4 ensuite bedrooms. The aim of the unit is to provide high quality of care and offer support to young people in a difficult part of their life journey in a timely and efficient manner. We also continue to aim to reduce the requirement for out of area admissions across Hull, East Riding and North and North-east Lincolnshire.

Inspire offers a safe and therapeutic environment for young people aged 13-17 suffering from any form of mental illness who need additional help and support in hospital. The team offer a range of therapeutic interventions and activities, ensuring they work in a compassionate and trauma informed way. The team is made up of a varied multi-disciplinary team (MDT); nurses, nursing assistants’, social worker, psychologists, medical doctors and occupational therapists. The team work closely with the young people, families and with other professionals and agencies to ensure that the young people receive a full package of care when they are discharged.

We offer a weekly structured timetable emphasising the importance of structure, routine and occupation to support the young people in their road to recovery. Each young person has their own individual timetable which is discussed with the young people and developed to meet their needs and wishes.
