Paediatric Speech and Language Therapy

We are an experienced team of speech and language therapists and assistants providing specialist and mainstream services to children with speech, language and communication difficulties.

The Team

The speech and language therapy service supports children from 0-19 years, helping them to meet their individual goals. We also work with parents and carers, who may be asked to participate in therapy sessions and carry out therapeutic activities at home.

We provide a range of specialist and mainstream speech and language therapy services, which include children with:

Developmental speech and language difficulties
Dysphagia (eating and drinking)
Social communication difficulties
Cleft Palate
Dysfluency
Hearing impairment
Learning difficulties
Physical disabilities
Pre-school children with complex needs

The service we provide varies depending on the child’s individual need, but may include:

Individual therapy
Group therapy
Programme writing
Liaison with parents/carers
Liaison with education staff
Liaison with other relevant professionals
Training others
Contributing to multidisciplinary meetings
Advice and support

We also work in partnership with other professionals as part of a multi-disciplinary team, which may include:

Consultants
GP’s
Health visitors
School health
Physiotherapists
Social services
Educational psychologists
Teachers / special educational needs coordinators
Portage service
Occupational therapists

We are a community based service. Children may be seen in:

Their own home;
Health centres
Nurseries/pre schools
Mainstream schools
Special schools

The setting the child is seen in will be dependent upon his needs
