Focusing on HRT for World Menopause Day

World Menopause Day is all about raising awareness of the menopause and the support options available for improving health and wellbeing. We have joined with the International Menopause Society (IMS), Henpicked and other organisations to help you become more informed about the menopause and ensure you have the information you need to make decisions or support others.

The theme this year for World Menopause Day is Menopause Hormone Therapy known better in the United Kingdom as Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT). HRT is a therapy used to relieve menopause symptoms. Scan the QR code and watch the short video to find out more.

The IMS have released a White Paper ahead of World Menopause Day. In this paper Professor Nick Panay and fellow authors address the key controversies around HRT. Read more...  To accompany the White Paper the IMS have also released a leaflet for women to provide information on the HRT 5Ws, “Who, What, When, Why and Where." Read more...

Although the theme this year is HRT, it is important to remember there are many ways to manage menopause symptoms and support this transition in life. Everyone is different so every individual needs to be able to choose the right approach for them.

There are different ways to manage menopause symptoms which may be helpful. These include for example, introducing lifestyle changes, managing stress, trying other medical treatments or availing of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

Linking to this year’s theme of HRT, tracking symptoms is an important part of the decision-making process be that HRT or other ways to manage menopause symptoms. Scan the QR code to view Henpicked’s menopause symptom tracker. You can use this to help you access support and track how your menopause journey is going.

Having an informed discussion with your GP or other knowledgeable healthcare professional is essential before starting any menopause treatment or therapy, to ensure it is appropriate for you. They can also provide personalised advice and support throughout the process.

Before attending any appointments make sure you do your research, go prepared, know what to say and work together to find the best solution for you which might help to improve your menopause symptoms. Remember, be persistent until you find an option or solution which works for you.
