Next week we are holding our annual Week of the Nurse, a campaign which aims to spread awareness and promote the brilliant work that nurses do every day at our Trust.

Our nurses are an incredibly valued members of our diverse teams, whether it’s a mental health nurse in one of our inpatient units, a ward nurse at our community hospitals, a healthcare assistant who aspires to become a nurse in the future, or anyone in between. Each and every one of our nurses make a real difference in our organisation.

We support our nurses with opportunities to develop their careers and offer them a wide range of health and wellbeing tools to support them when working with us. We believe that by taking care of our nurses, they in turn are better equipped to take care of others.

We pride ourselves on delivering high standards of care throughout all our services, and our nurses play a vital role in helping us do that.

Celebrating our nurses is important year-round, but we hope you enjoy this moment that is dedicated to you. We also hope others will join us in thanking our local nurses. To thank your colleagues and anyone in health and social care who has made a difference in your life – it might be just the thing they need to hear.

Our Chief Executive, Michele Moran, and Executive Director of Nursing, Allied Health and Social Care Professionals, Hilary Gledhill, would also like to share their thanks:

“We invite you to join us in celebrating Nurses of all professions next week, to acknowledge the difference they make both within our organisation and beyond. This unique, remarkable and impactful profession is one which comes with considerable challenges, and it therefore feels more important than ever to shine a spotlight on our fantastic Nurses, to showcase that incredible work and the difference you make to our patients and their loved ones.

When considering the challenges you may face at work, we want to take this opportunity to remind you that your health and wellbeing is at the top of our agenda, as it is with all our people. We know that, without looking after you, we cannot continue to deliver the high standards of care that we pride ourselves on. We want all of you to feel supported when working within our Humbelievable teams, and our Health and Wellbeing Hub outlines all the ways in which you can seek that additional support when you need it.

Being a health and social care professional is an exceptionally rewarding career, but your resilience and bravery as a person is what always shines through. We would like to thank you, sincerely, on behalf of our Trust Board. Your commitment to our communities is second to none, and we truly appreciate all that you do.

It is not often that we have the chance to stop and reflect, to understand the impact our commitment makes and to acknowledge our achievements. Please take a moment to feel proud of yourselves this week, and to thank your colleagues for their contributions, too.

Let’s celebrate together. Thank you.”
