Our Trust has been shortlisted for two prestigious NHS Parliamentary awards celebrating the achievements and dedication of NHS staff across England.

We have made it to the final stage of the 2024 NHS Parliamentary awards in two categories – the Excellence in Urgent and Emergency Care Award and the Excellence in Mental Health Care Award – following more than 900 nomination submissions across the country.

Our services were nominated by local MPs and went on to be selected by NHS England as finalists for the awards. These teams, along with the other finalists and nominating MPs, will attend the award ceremony held on Monday 14 October in London.

Nominated by Rt Hon Dame Diana Johnson DBE MP, the Specialist Treatment and Recovery Service (STaRS) Project: The Recovery Pathway has been shortlisted in the Excellence in Mental Health Care award category. STaRS have redefined the recovery pathway for individuals with complex and enduring mental health difficulties, focussing on ‘getting it right first time’. The team achieved this through extensive research to create an innovative pathway that ensures meaningful recovery.

The Emergency Department Mental Health Streaming service was nominated by both Rt Hon Dame Diana Johnson DBE MP and Rt Hon Graham Stuart MP in the category of Excellence in Urgent and Emergency Care. The initiative streams patients requiring a mental health assessment away from the acute Emergency Department when clinically safe to do so, to a co-located Mental Health Area. This improves the patients journey and enhances safety with care that is in line with trauma-informed principals.

The NHS Parliamentary Awards recognise the outstanding contribution of NHS staff, volunteers and other health and care sectors. For the past 6 years, it has given members of parliament the chance to showcase what amazing people working in their constituency in the healthcare profession.

Professor Sir Stephen Powis, NHS England National Medical Director and Chair of the NHS Parliamentary Awards 2024 National Judging Panel said, "Our NHS could not exist without the commitment and drive of its talented workforce. It is fantastic to see so many examples of exceptional care and innovation being delivered by healthcare staff across the country in this year’s national shortlist. I would like to thank MPs for highlighting so many examples of outstanding healthcare in their local communities".
