Our Trust is holding a Healthcare Support Worker recruitment event at Princes Quay Shopping Centre on Wednesday 24 January. Healthcare Support Workers interact with patients throughout their care, providing personal assistance and managing their day-to-day needs.

Anyone interested in finding out more about a career as a Healthcare Support Worker, or any other potential roles in the NHS, can drop-in. The event is being held between 2pm to 6pm on the ground floor of Princes Quay Shopping Centre in Hull.

This is the first time our Trust has run an event like this and it’s a fantastic opportunity to find out more about the roles available and speak to those already in post.

People can even bring along a copy of your CV and sign up to an interview there and then!

The event will include four action stations for attendees to engage with, so people can meet staff currently working for the Trust, and even have a go at some of the type of tasks they could be doing. There will also be representatives from each Trust division to explain how the role works within each service operated by Humber. Most importantly, information will be available on the incredible benefits offered by the Trust, as well as personalised support on how to apply for the roles which you wouldn’t get anywhere else.

So what is a Healthcare Support Worker? This role in the Trust is varied and diverse, supporting the health care teams in a variety of services including children’s or adult mental health, learning disabilities and community-based programmes. Tasks may include providing help with personal care, meals and mobility for patients. Healthcare Support Workers play a vital role in our teams to support patients back to a full and meaningful life.

A Healthcare Support Worker would join the Trust as a Band 3 employee, with the salary starting from £22,816 up to £24,336. There are also opportunities to join as a Band 2 Apprentice in the Trust, perfect for anyone at the very start of their careers.

The Trust believes the prospects they can offer as an employer are special and unique to the local area. As a predominantly mental health and community-based trust, the career opportunity is quite different to that of working in a large hospital, for example. Whether you already have experience or are brand new to health care there is a role that’s right for you.

Anyone can come along on the day and everyone is welcome, with the Trust prioritising life experience over work experience for this particular role. Kindness, compassion and the ability to get stuck in are also important to this hands-on and varied role.

You’ll start a career that suits you now and be supported to access training to develop your skills and further your potential. Whether that’s on-the-job training to improve your practical skills or pursuing a future career in nursing without having to take a career break or pay university fees. There are even opportunities to join the ‘Bank’ staff so you can pick and choose your hours to suit you and your lifestyle.

This event is an informal ‘drop in’ so anyone can come along to see what’s happening and find out more about the role of a Healthcare Support Worker. But those wishing to take things further are encouraged to sign up for one of the interview slots on the day.
