Trust’s Executive Director of Finance to Lace Up Running Shoes in Aid of Health Stars

Published: 01 January 0001

On Sunday 27th October 2024, the Executive Director of Finance for Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust will be lacing up his running shoes to raise money for the Trust’s charity Health Stars.

Pete Beckwith will be taking part in the Haltemprice 10k which starts and finishes in the East Yorkshire village of Kirk Ella. It’s one of the regions oldest running events, having taken place since 1987. If you would like to sponsor Pete, please visit his Just Giving page.

Pete said “I’m really proud to support Health Stars by taking part in this race. It’s a chance to raise money for a charity that does such important work to improve health care and the experiences of those who use our services.

“Recently, Health Stars funded two Cardio Walls to help encourage physical activity in our mental health inpatient units. These wonderful pieces of equipment are helping to overcome some of the challenges patients face when it comes to exercising in limited spaces. The Cardio Walls, which can be used indoors or outdoors, offer fun physical and cognitive games that patients can enjoy on their own or as a group. “

“It’s down to the amazing people who donate to Health Stars that makes funding these pieces of equipment possible. Thank you.”

The money raised by Pete will be allocated to the Westlands visitor garden redesign project fund. Westlands is a mental health inpatient unit for women aged 18 to 65 who have mental health conditions. Staff at the unit are planning a calendar of fundraising events in 2025 to help fund the project with a target of £10,000.
