The Trust’s annual Long Service Awards ceremony at The Lecture Theatre in Trust HQ, Willerby was held on Thursday 16th January 2025. This is one of four events held throughout the year to celebrate long serving staff at different locations to ensure everyone eligible can attend one close to their place of work.

Staff from across the Trust came together to celebrate staff who have worked for the Trust and NHS for 20 years or more, collectively representing an impressive grand total of 685 years’ worth of service between them.

These staff members were also joined by those staff who are due to retire from service this year, and Employees of the Month were also invited to attend the celebration. One of the Retiring members of staff, Lesley Kitchen, shared how she had originally started with the Trust in 1983 on a 12-week contract as a Temporary Nurse Assistant and now, having stayed for 41 years, is retiring from the Trust as Team Manager for the Humber Recovery Support Team.

The event began with an afternoon tea-style celebration buffet, allowing staff an informal opportunity to meet and network with their peers. Michele Moran, Chief Executive, opened the awards welcoming all attendees and thanking them for their fantastic work which brought them to the event. She went on to share some of her own experiences of starting in healthcare highlighting how far we have come and how many changes she has seen during her varied career.

36 members of staff were recognised for their long service, alongside 5 retiring staff members. The event celebrates these individuals for their loyalty and commitment to the Trust and is recognition of how long service enriches our Trust.

The Trust is immensely proud of the number of staff members who reach our Long Service Awards. It is testament to their commitment to create a positive and supportive work experience for all staff members. This is one of the many reasons why the Trust has so many staff who have chosen to complete their careers at Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust.
