We are delighted and proud to confirm that our Trust was one of first nationally to be accredited for high quality support provided to newly Registered Nurses.
We have been accredited with the National Preceptorship Interim Quality Mark. This mark is awarded to organisations who offer high quality Preceptorship programmes for newly qualified Registered Nurses.
Our Trust was one of the first health and social care organisations to be accredited nationally, with only a limited number of others being awarded the mark.
The purpose of Preceptorship is to provide support, guidance, and development for all newly registered practitioners to build confidence and develop full competence as they transition into an autonomous professional.
Our Preceptorship programme has been recognised as it encourages a safe learning environment for new staff, builds confidence and skills, increases motivation and leads to more effective team working and communication.
One such beneficiary of the Preceptorship is Sam who has provided her thoughts on how the programme has worked for her, “we were encouraged to receive supervision fortnightly and as required. This was an invaluable opportunity to discuss how things were going both clinically as my practice started to be shaped, and also personally with newly having a professional registration to uphold”.
She added, “Preceptorship provided the opportunity to link with newly qualified healthcare professionals working within the same area and trust”.
The national Preceptorship Framework for nursing includes a core set of standards for inclusive and multi-disciplinary programmes, with health and social organisations aiming for Gold Standard when developing and delivering their own Preceptorship programmes locally.
We are delighted to be able to offer this MDT programme to our Health and Social Care clinicians as part of their training to build and develop our staff to be the very best. In addition, we are building on this to ensure support is offered to other professionals such as Allied Health Professionals and Social Work Professionals.
