Time to Talk Day 2022
Published: 01 February 2022
Time to Talk Day is the nation’s biggest mental health conversation. Taking place on Thursday 3 February 2022, it’s the day that friends, families, communities, and workplaces come together to talk and listen to one another.
However you choose to do it, have a conversation about mental health this Time to Talk Day.
Time to Talk Day was launched in 2014 by Time to Change, a campaign to end mental health stigma and discrimination, which was run by Mind and Rethink Mental Illness. This year, Time to Talk Day aims to support communities up and down the country to have more mental health conversations than ever before.
We know that conversations about mental health have the power to change lives. Research shows how important open conversations in communities are to support everyone’s mental wellbeing.
To get involved in this important day, throughout the week commencing 31st January, we are encouraging all of our staff and partners to take on two challenges: 2,000 Conversations and Ask Twice.
2,000 Conversations
We are encouraging you all to have an important conversation as part of our involvement in Time to Talk Day.
If each member of our staff takes part, we will easily surpass this target of having 2,000 conversations. But why stop there?
We’re encouraging everyone to take part. Call a loved one, chat to a colleague at work, ask the person serving at the local shop how they’re doing. You never know how much someone might need it.
Ask Twice
Time to Change support the ‘Ask Twice’ campaign, which is to ask someone how they’re feeling not once, but twice.
The idea behind this is that everyone’s automatic response tends to be that they’re fine, but when you ask a second time, they are more likely to take the question seriously and open up about things they might want to talk about with someone they trust.
Make yourself available to people and be open to having that conversation. It has the power to save lives.
Get involved this Time to Talk Day.
And as always, share with us the ways you have included this awareness day in your plans on 3rd February, and throughout the month, on our social media channels @HumberNHSFT
