Published: 13 August 2024
We are delighted to announce that our Trust has been shortlisted for two national awards at the Health Service Journal (HSJ) Awards 2024. Our teams have been shortlisted for the ‘Patient Safety Award’ and the ‘NHS Communications Initiative of the Year’, recognising outstanding contribution to healthcare services.
The judging panel, made up of a diverse range of highly influential and respected figures within the healthcare community, have shortlisted us from hundreds of outstanding applicants from across the country for the following initiatives:
Emergency Department Mental Health Streaming – Patient Safety Award
A ‘Humbelievable’ Recruitment Marketing Campaign – NHS Communications Initiative of the Year
In the category of NHS Communications Initiative of the Year, the Humbelievable recruitment marketing campaign stood out for its fluid and innovative approach to addressing the staffing issues felt by the entire NHS. Rachel Kirby, Deputy Director of Communications and Charitable Funds said, “The Humbelievable campaign was created to showcase our fantastic dedicated and diverse teams, using their voice to demonstrate the benefits and highlight why working at our Trust is special. I am delighted that its success as a recruitment initiative is being recognised on a national level.”
The Emergency Department Mental Health Streaming initiative has been recognised in the Patient Safety award category for its novel approach to addressing care when patients present with mental health concerns in an acute Emergency Department setting. The streaming pathway enables mental health patients to be treated in a bespoke area of A&E away from patients with physical health concerns. Emma Thompson, Mental Health Liaison Service Team Leader said, “We are delighted to be shortlisted for the Patient Safety Award for our ED Streaming initiative which has made such a huge difference to our service and how we work with the acute Trust to deliver the best possible care for our patients.”
HSJ editor Alastair McLellan said, “It always gives me great pleasure to congratulate our finalists at this stage of the judging process and this year is no exception as we acknowledge Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust for being shortlisted for two categories. We can’t wait to welcome our finalists to the awards ceremony in November and to recognise and applaud such impressive achievements across the sector.”
Over 1350 entries were submitted to this year’s Awards, with 234 projects and individuals reaching the final shortlist. The high volume and exceptional quality of applications showcases the impressive levels of innovation and care continually being developed within the UK’s healthcare networks. The 2024 awards judging panel was made up of a diverse range of highly influential and respected figures within the healthcare community, including; Stephen Powis, National Medical Director, NHS England, Rosa Waddingham, Chief Nurse, Nottingham and Nottinghamshire ICB and Matthew Style, Director General, Secondary Care and Integration Department of Health & Social Care, as well as a range of esteemed Chief Executives from NHS Trusts across the UK.
The selected winners will be announced during the awards ceremony at Evolution London on 21 November 2024.
