NHS Employers Equality, Diversity & Human Rights Week 2021
Published: 10 May 2021
Between the 10th and 14th of May 2021 the Trust will be celebrating the ninth Equality, Diversity and Human Rights Week (#EQW2021). Co-ordinated by NHS Employers, Equality, Diversity and Human Rights Week is a national platform for organisations to highlight their work to create a fairer, more inclusive NHS for patients and staff.
It provides an opportunity for us to promote, showcase and celebrate the amazing work going on across the health and social care sector around the areas of equality, diversity and inclusion.
Having taken the decision last year to cancel due to COVID-19, NHS Employers are looking to encourage and support health and social care organisations across the system to participate in a national conversation about how, more than ever, we need to think about the role of equality, diversity and inclusion as part of our road to recovery and reset through 2021.
In order to do this, NHS Employers are theming each of the five days around one of the pledges from the NHS People Promise which is a cornerstone of the NHS People Plan. At the heart of the plan is changing culture, with a commitment towards ensuring respect, equality and diversity within the NHS.
Working together makes the NHS stronger, we meet standards, enable change and collectively invest in the creation of a diverse and inclusive NHS workforce to deliver a more inclusive service and improved patient care.
