Members of the Hull NHS Choir will be among those performing at the King's Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle on 7 May

The BBC has unveiled its special coverage and programming to mark the coronation of His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen Consort, and you may spot some familiar faces…

A very special choir – made up of singing groups of all shapes and sizes to give a true representation of the diverse range of faces, places and voices that makes up modern Britain today – will be given the once in a lifetime chance to sing their hearts out at the Coronation Concert, as well as the millions who will be watching around the world.

The final 300-strong choir will include members of Hull NHS Choir plus many others, such as London Cabbies, an all-deaf sign performance group and an LGBTQ+ choir.

Of the twenty five members of the Hull NHS Choir chosen to take part, five of them are from our Trust. They are, Principal Children's Physiotherapist Helen Chamberlain, Specialist Safeguarding Practitioner Carol Clark, Learning Disability Nurse Debbie Johnson, School Nurse Jacki Scott and Administrator Jo Trafford.

Carol Clark said of being chosen to be a part of the choir

"Being chosen to be part of the Coronation Choir is an honour and a privilege. It is a real pinch me moment. We are all very excited to be part of the celebration concert on Sunday, the 300 strong choir sounds incredible, watch Sing for the King on Friday 8pm BBC1 to find out more."

To be chosen to take part in the choir is a great achievement and shows the talent and dedication they all have shown.

The Coronation Choir will share the billing with British pop group Take That, international superstar Lionel Richie, global pop icon Katy Perry, and international opera star Andrea Bocelli, among others.

The concert will be attended by a public audience, selected to attend through a national ballot held by the BBC whereby five thousand members of the public were allocated a pair of free tickets.

A centrepiece of the Coronation Concert, ‘Lighting up the Nation’, will see the country join together in celebration as iconic locations across the United Kingdom are lit up using projections, lasers, potential drone displays and illuminations.
