Marching on at Pride in Hull!
Published: 10 July 2019
The parade for Pride in Hull this year reflects on the 50 years since Stonewall – that many believe sparked the modern pride movement. This years’ theme includes clothing styles from the 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s and today.
Staff and volunteers are attending in support of the Trust’s participation in this year’s Pride in Hull, due to take place on Saturday, 20 July. Trust participation in this year’s event is an open-to-all celebration of the LGBT community and culture. Keep an eye out for us in our 90’s themed attire.
Those who are attending the march will gather, ready to set off at 11.30am. The Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust will join other NHS Organisations on the march and will then run a stall in the market place in Queens Gardens from 1pm. So why not pop along to see us and have a chat. We are expecting around 60,000 people at this year's Hull Pride event.
We are very excited to see part of the original mile-long rainbow Pride flag that was paraded through the streets of New York City, which will be present on the day, marking 50 years since Stonewall. We’ve also been told to keep an eye out for some special guests including Mel C from the Spice Girls and Claire Richards from Steps! Viewers can even expect to see celebrity lookalikes associated with each of the decades in this year’s chosen theme.
There is a Hull Pride pop-up shop on Humber Street that is open every day from 10am to 4.30pm up to Friday 19 July, so pop along for more information. If you are planning on joining us on the day, please make sure you wear suitable footwear, use sunscreen, keep yourselves hydrated and most importantly – enjoy the day!
