Learning Disability Week 2022
Published: 01 January 0001
Learning Disability Week takes place 20 – 26 June this year, and the annual campaign is all about making sure the world hears what life is like if you have a learning disability.
This year’s awareness week has the theme of ‘living life with a learning disability’ which aims to show how people with a learning disability are reconnecting with friends and their communities.
As Mencap noted: “We also want to talk about the issues many people still face after the end of COVID restrictions, like still having to isolate or dealing with poor mental health and anxiety.”
As a Trust, we recognise the importance of this issue and are proud to stand by and work with organisations, such as Mencap, who are advocating for people living with learning disabilities.
We wanted to tell you all about some of the upcoming things you can expect to see from us this week, such as a couple of articles written by professionals behind the scenes of what it's like working and helping those with learning disabilities. Hear about one of the Mencap sessions that took place recently and understand some of the Humber Signs for those with learning disabilities.
We hope you join us in getting involved this week. Learn more about the week and what you can do to show your support on Mencap’s website here.
We will be posting on our social media channels throughout the week @HumberNHSFT using the hashtag #LDWeek22 if you would like to follow along and support the day.
