International Clinical Trials Day 2022

Published: 01 January 0001

Clinical Trials Day is an opportunity for us to recognise and give thanks to those who conduct and recruit to clinical trials across the globe.

It is a day of celebration which also raises awareness for the importance of clinical trials and research more broadly, including how it can impact the communities we serve and how it can be a fulfilling career option for those who want to work in a rewarding job that really makes a difference.

Here at Humber, we have a fantastic Research and Development team who are actively engaging in important research studies and clinical trials in the UK and beyond.

You can learn all about the Research Team here, and by watching their latest animation ‘My Research Journey’ on YouTube here.

We’re pleased to explore some of the ways our research team are involved with the communities we serve and how we are celebrating our wonderful Research team today.

Join our Annual Research Conference

Every year, our Research Team organise their Annual Research Conference, which brings key players in the field of medical research together to hear speakers and learn about new opportunities from across the nation.

Take a look at last year’s highlights video here.

The next conference will be on Thursday 3rd November 2022 and you can register for free attendance in person or online here.

To celebrate International Clinical Trials Day, anyone who registers for our conference during May will be entered into a prize draw for a £50 voucher.

Active Brains research study

One of the trials we’re involved with is the  Active Brains research study which aims to find out if using the Active Brains website is useful for people aged 60-85, who are proactively taking steps to keep their brain healthy.

Members of our Research and Development team worked with the University of Southampton and opened the Active Brains study in primary care at three of our practices.

There has been a massive amount of interest so far, with more than 70 people signing up. The study is testing an interactive programme (called ‘Active Brains’) to help people aged 60-85 with lifestyle changes and brain training activities which may help with memory and thinking skills. The study is now in motion and will last for five years.

You can learn more about it here.

Celebrating our staff

Research needs everyone! We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our service users, staff and their families, who have volunteered their time to be involved in research this year.

Research Participants, Research Champions, PPI Advisors, Principal Investigators and Sign-Posters, you are all #Humbelievable! Without you change could not happen. Thank you.
