Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust hosted a Mental Health Fair as part of The Big Conversation Events 2019
We were delighted to be able to take our services into the community for a ‘Mental Health Fair’ at the Lonsdale Community Centre on Thursday 19th September, 6pm-8pm, as part of ‘The Big Conversation 2019’. Those who attended had no need to book - they just dropped in for a brew and spoke to our amazing services.
The Big Conversation is made up of a number of events across Hull West and Hessle to allow those that live in these areas to talk about what’s important to them. The ‘Mental Health Fair’ provided visitors with the opportunity to speak with these services and learn more about what the care and assistance that they offer.
Emma Hardy MP said: “The Big Conversation Events are designed to have our communities at the heart of the conversation and working alongside the NHS can only be to the benefit of everyone. I will be acting on the issues that my constituents raise because what is important to our community is important to me”.
2019 marked the third year of the ‘Big Conversation’ which, in 2019 saw 19 events held across a four week period touching over 36,000 households. The 2018 event led to increased campaigning for better Mental Health services in particular within schools.
Emma continued: “Raising awareness of mental health issues is very important to me and it is something I have been fighting for during my two years as MP for Hull West & Hessle. This can be seen with the success I had in finalising the deal for the CAMHS unit to be built in Hull West, bringing much needed support and services for our children in the area. If we can raise everybody’s awareness of mental health issues it will lead to more effective treatment” says Emma Hardy MP.
15 mental health support services were in attendance including; Adult Mental Health, Veterans Transition Intervention and Liaison Service, Mental Health Response Service, Dementia Services and Suicide Prevention.
A huge thank you to all who came along and made the event more special.
