Published: 01 January 0001
When it comes to discussing hoarding and the behaviours of people who hoard, there is a lot of stigma and misunderstanding.
In this article, we have outlined some common myths about hoarding. It is important to understand and address these, so that we can break the stigma around hoarding and better support those who are dealing with it.
In 2017, Making Room created 5 videos addressing the most common myths. You can view them below:
- “Hoarders are lazy people who don’t care about their homes”
- “If people find out I am a hoarder I will lose my home”
- “Only old people hoard”
- “Just chucking everything out will solve the problem”
- “When the level of hoarding is really bad, nothing can be done”
