East Riding Healthtrainers helping you to look after your heart

Trust healthcare service, East Riding Healthtrainers, are offering free NHS health checks to anyone who is eligible within East Riding of Yorkshire.

The health check test offers people aged 40 to 74 years, a blood pressure check and cholesterol check, as well as guidance on their general lifestyle choices that may put them at risk of heart disease either now or in the future. The health check can also tell whether a participant has a higher risk of experiencing other health problems such as diabetes, kidney disease, and stroke. Health check participants over the age of 65 will also be informed of the signs and symptoms of dementia that they can look out for.

Healthtrainers Service Manager, Natalie Belt said “as we get older, we have a higher risk of developing conditions like high blood pressure, heart disease or Type 2 diabetes. Your free NHS Health Check can spot early signs and help prevent these happening to you which means you'll be more likely to enjoy life for longer”.

Looking after your own health and wellbeing can limit future diagnosis of a long term condition. This means by managing your health now, you won’t have to manage a life long illness in the future.

Places are limited for the free NHS Health Checks, so the Healthtrainers team are encouraging people within the ages of 40 and 74, who are not currently diagnosed with a long term health condition, to book their places. The health checks are available 6 days a week and you can book your place by contacting Healthtrainers on 0800 917752, or by emailing HNF-TR.healthtrainers@nhs.net.
