Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust currently delivers two GP contracts in Hull (Northpoint Medical Practice and Princes Medical Centre) as part of a portfolio of six practices across Hull and East Riding.

As a review of its primary care services across Hull, from 1st April 2023 the Trust will no longer be providing services at Northpoint Medical Practice and Princes Medical Centre. The Trust is working with Dr Scot Richardson from James Alexander Family Practice to ensure patients will continue to have access to GP services at both practices.

From 1st April, Dr Richardson will become the new provider for Princes Medical Centre and he will also support patients at Northpoint under subcontracting arrangements.

This decision will benefit patients, supporting access to a wider range of health care professionals and services.

The practices are part of the Marmot Primary Care Network (PCN)– a group of practices that work together across their local area. The other practices in the network are James Alexander Family Practice and Dr GT Hendow.  The change of provider will help to strengthen GP services available to patients throughout the PCN and brings a number of important benefits to patients and staff, which include:

  • More appointments per week with Clinicians, Nurses and Allied Health Care Professionals
  • A greater range of appointment times throughout the day
  • A refocus on prevention and keeping people healthy.

Patients will continue to visit the same locations at Bransholme and Princes Medical Centre for their appointments.  Staff will be transferred to the new provider. Both practices are committed to supporting staff throughout the transition.

Patients who wish to change practice can do so if they wish. Details on how to register with a new practice will be included in patient communications.

Both Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust and Dr Richardson are committed to keeping patients up to date throughout these changes.  Practice websites will always carry up to date information about the changes which will also be displayed in practice.  Any changes or updates that directly impact patients will be communicated by letter and/or text message.

We have compiled several questions and answers which will hopefully help you understand the reasons behind these changes and reassure you that your care and treatment will not be affected.
