CEO Challenge Raises Over £6,000 for Charity
Published: 01 January 0001
Our Chief Executive, Michele Moran, completed an 84-mile virtual cycle route on 23rd June, raising over £6,000 for Trust Charity Health Stars.
The virtual route took the cyclists from Children and Young People’s Mental Health Unit, Inspire on Walker Street, Hull to Whitby Community Hospital. Michele was joined on the journey by staff from across the Trust including nurses, pharmacists, estates, administration and patient experience colleagues.
The Trust provides a range of integrated health care services across Hull, the East Riding of Yorkshire, Whitby, Scarborough, and Ryedale. The virtual ride, which took place at the Trust’s Headquarters in Willerby, visited ten of those services including eight Mental Health Inpatient Units before travelling to Malton Community Hospital and finally Whitby Community Hospital.
Chief Executive, Michele Moran said:
“This year’s CEO Challenge was brilliant from start to finish. I can’t thank my colleagues enough for being there to support the event throughout the day, especially those who completed the cycle route alongside me and encouraged me to complete the journey.
It was very challenging. As a non-cyclist who has never cycled more than 30 miles…the 84 miles were tough, but I am so pleased with the funds raised as they will really make a difference to our services. Thank you to everyone who donated and continue to do so.”
The event was organised by the Trust’s Charity, Health Stars, who raise funds to provide extra support beyond NHS core funding. This includes investment in specialist equipment, Staff health and wellbeing initiatives, training and improvements to hospital environments that can make hospital feel less like hospital.
Fundraising Manager, Kristina Poxton said:
“We were delighted to work with Michele on a unique challenge this year. We are privileged to be able to raise funds that add that extra sparkle to NHS services and we are thrilled to have raised over £6,000. It’s an incredible achievement.”
Michele’s previous challenges raised over £15,000 for Health Stars, benefiting patients and staff across the organisation funding everything from arts and craft materials, ‘stress-less’ bags, gardening items for patients and to staff team building days and specialist training equipment.
On the day, Michele was joined on each leg of the cycle by sponsors from local services. Main event sponsors included IDNS, 3 Crowns LTD and Sewell Group. The teams would greatly appreciate any final donations this week.
