Celebrating our Covid vaccination programme this World Immunization Day

Published: 01 January 0001

World Immunization Day is this Sunday, 24 April 2022.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), the awareness day ‘aims to highlight the collective action needed and to promote the use of vaccines to protect people of all ages against disease.’

This year’s theme is ‘Long Life for All’, highlighting the need for collective action to ensure that people all over the world, of all ages and backgrounds, have access to vital vaccines that help them stay protected from vaccine-preventable diseases.

As a health and social care provider in the UK, we understand the importance of vaccines and how they can save lives. From our Flu programme, to School Nurses and our more recent Covid-19 programme, vaccines make up an important part of our services and also, are important with regards to protection for our workforce.

From January 2021 to February 2022, we were exceptionally proud to have run a Covid-19 vaccination programme at our Trust Headquarters in Willerby.

During this time, we delivered over 50,000 vaccines to local health and social care staff. We were proud to reach this milestone, and to have played a vital role in protecting people from the early stages of national vaccine delivery, later turning into a Hospital Hub to ensure we could also protect members of the public, including our 12-15 year old cohort, which was positively received.

In just over one year, our Trust proudly:

  • Worked 8,278 hours to run our vaccine hub
  • Provided 53 vaccines per hour (on average) when open
  • Was supported by 102 #Humbelievable team members and 126 volunteers to deliver this service
  • Vaccinated 1,098 young people aged between 12 and 15 years old
  • Supported 82 other health and social care providers in the region

We would like to take the opportunity, this World Immunization Day, to thank our amazing teams and volunteers. Without their dedication, generosity and resilience, these achievements would not have been possible. Thank you for all that you did and all you continue to do.
