On Administrative Professionals Day (18th April), we spoke to some of our incredible admin staff, who shared why they love their jobs in admin at our Trust.

Dannelle Paige, Medical Secretary

I have a total of 24 months experience in an administration role, 18 of those months has been as a Medical Secretary at the Humber Centre in Forensic Services. I have honed my efficiency and organisation skills and learnt new skills through observation of my colleagues. I have learnt to balance tasks like minuting meetings, answering queries internally and externally from outside agencies such as the Ministry of Defence, and accurately managing records in a fast-paced medical environment and this has become second nature to me.

My apprenticeship is a Level 3 in Business Administration, running alongside my current role this has further enriched my understanding of corporate and administrative processes. I take pride in streamlining workflows and supporting healthcare Clinicians to enhance patient care.

Joining the NHS has proven to be a positive experience, I'm driven to continue this journey, leveraging my dedication and furthering my education to contribute positively to the Trust.

Aimee Matthews, Senior Administrator

I began working in the NHS in 2019 as a Ward Clerk whilst completing my university degree. I learnt various communication and computing skills whilst working as a ward clerk before deciding to move full time into the community midwifery department. I provided support to the community midwives and liaised with patients on a daily basis. Once I had finished university, I continued to stay on as an administrator as I liked the everyday challenges I faced and the aspect of working as a team.

I am now a Senior Administrator at Humber NHS Foundation Trust, working in Community Forensics and I am enjoying the new challenge. There is a sense of accomplishment when helping others with queries and I am always interested in learning new things. Daily tasks include updating patient information on Lorenzo, creating spreadsheets, arranging meetings and events, minute taking, liaising with other colleagues and organising the team in general.

I enjoy supporting my colleagues administratively to ensure they can complete their clinical work with ease and efficiency. If I had £1 for every time someone corrected me when I describe myself as “just admin” I would be very rich indeed!

Hope Osbourne, Senior Administration Assistant
