Celebrating AMHP Day 2022!
Published: 01 January 0001
In preparation for AMHP Day 2022, which falls on Wednesday 29 June this year, we spoke to our colleague Kirsten.
Kirsten said:
“An AMHP is an Approved Mental Health Professional. I am pleased that we are celebrating National AMHP Day to raise the profile of this valuable role in mental health.
AMHPs have a challenging and at times stressful role, being responsible for things like applications for hospital detentions. AMHPs work independently and are autonomous in their assessment and decision making, which means that our role can sometimes be misunderstood. This is why I think the national date to raise awareness is particularly important.”
On 29 June, we are joining the Adult Principal Social Work Network and our partners at Hull City Council to highlight the role of the AMHP and the practice that Social Workers, Nurses and Occupational Therapists bring to our organisations.
One of the purposes of the day will be to begin to promote a wider understanding and appreciation of the role, its central importance in relation to mental health legislation, and the promotion of the rights of individuals, their families and friends.
