Published: 22 November 2024
We’re proud to announce that we received a Highly Commended award at the annual Health Service Journal (HSJ) Awards on 21 November 2024.
Attending the sparkling awards ceremony in London, our fantastic Communications Team took home the high commendation for NHS Communications Initiative of the Year.
The accolade highlights our innovative ‘Humbelievable’ recruitment campaign, which has involved an enhanced focus on nursing roles in recent years. Celebrating our approach to engaging with staff, patients, and communities, and showcasing our commitment to transparent, impactful, and inclusive communications.
The results were fantastic acknowledgement of the work in partnership between our Communications and Workforce teams.
Our Mental Health Liaison Team were also nominated in the Patient Safety category for the Emergency Department Mental Health Streaming initiative. This nomination highlights our novel approach to addressing care when patients present with mental health concerns in an acute setting.
Michele Moran, Chief Executive of Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust, said:
"We are incredibly proud to be acknowledged on this national stage for our commitment to innovation and excellence. Being highly commended for our communications work and seeing our mental health teams recognised across multiple award platforms is a testament to our commitment to delivering outstanding care."
Rachel Kirby, Deputy Director of Communications emphasised the critical role NHS staff play in delivering outstanding care and the importance of investing in recruitment during challenging times:
"This commendation reflects the incredible passion and dedication of our ‘Humbelievable’ colleagues. They are the backbone of the NHS, and their commitment inspires all the work we do in communications. At a time when the NHS faces significant challenges, recruiting and retaining skilled and compassionate people has never been more important. Our campaigns aim to show the incredible opportunities within the NHS and engage people who want to make a real difference in their communities."
A huge congratulations to both teams for their innovative work which truly helps us continue to deliver high standards of patient care. Well done!
The HSJ Awards continue to be the most esteemed recognition of healthcare service excellence in the UK. The 2024 Awards not only adhere to their 43-year-old values of sharing best practice, improving patient outcomes, and innovating drivers of better service, but will most importantly provide a well-deserved thanks to the sector.
