Ambitious goal to raise money for Whitby Hospital and Gardens

Published: 01 January 0001

Our NHS Trust charity, Health Stars, together with Hey Smile Foundation, have recently set up an ambitious target to fundraise for Whitby Hospital.

The aim of this campaign is to raise money which will add the extra sparkle to the Whitby Hospital and Gardens renovation.

All money raised would be part of the Whitby Appeal, which will pay for additional enhancements in the new building and outdoor areas, including dementia-friendly resources and other ideas from local residents and businesses.

This year, the organisers of the Mulgrave 10k have been working in partnership with us, to contribute to the Whitby Appeal.

First run in 2012, the race is held at the Mulgrave Estate and is organised by Loftus and Whitby AC, in conjunction with Mulgrave Community Sports Association. All proceeds from the race are donated to Mulgrave Community Sports Association, which provides wonderful sporting facilities in the Whitby area, such as football, cricket and bowls.

This year, the race will be held with Coronavirus safety restrictions in place, and is set to take place on Sunday 8th August.

Tony Hare, Mulgrave 10k Organiser, said:

“We are so pleased to donate 20 places to Whitby Hospital at this year’s race. We hope the proceeds will aid with their fundraising, and also act as a token of thanks to local NHS staff who have shown their dedication to our community during the pandemic.”

This month, many people are also getting involved in the Run for Heroes, 5KMay. The idea of this campaign is that you Run 5 (kilometres), Donate 5 (pounds) and Nominate 5 (people) to take on the challenge. It’s a fun and inclusive way of getting involved in raising money for NHS heroes, which anyone can participate in.
