Throughout the whole of May, over 400 people from our Humbelievable teams took on the challenge to walk ‘100k your way’, to boost their health and wellbeing and enjoy the outdoors.

We’re thrilled to say that, in total, we walked, jogged or ran 57,240.26km!

We pride ourselves on the varied selection of wellbeing activities we offer our staff. With so many of us working at a desk for 8 hours a day we wanted to encourage people to get moving and enjoying our local surroundings– as well taking part in some healthy competition between services!

It was great to see so many people throughout our organisation come together to celebrate health and wellbeing throughout the month of May. The challenge also came with several prizes, including gift vouchers for the people who contributed the most steps, and a medal for everyone who took part.

People from our services who got stuck in with the challenge expressed how they felt encouraged to get outside, make the most of the welcomed Spring weather and make movement a more proactive part of their daily routine.

To help people stay on track and feel a part of the challenge, we worked together with Eyeweb to design a unique website which provided a platform for people to engage with the campaign. The platform enabled our teams to register their details, join a team and log their steps. In turn, the website also provided motivation and encouraged members to keep going throughout the month, with the added feature of being able to see what others were achieving along the way.

The website has been so thoroughly enjoyed that some people are still using it as a way to keep movement in their daily routine and log their progress. You can take a look around here: https://healthy.humber.nhs.uk

Sarah from our Social Prescribing team, said:

“It was a pleasure to participate, I wanted 100k and achieved over 300k! This has further helped my fitness goals at the gym, but has also embedded an old hobby and made it enjoyable once again, fantastic effort from everybody and a great idea!”

Rachel, from our Communications team, said:

“I loved the challenge. It's really pushed me to be more active with such a sedentary job. The website is great and really easy to use and I felt motivated by seeing everyone else's activities.”

Ian, from our Corporate Services, said:

“I thought it was a great challenge, helping with team building bringing a sense of unity and improving moral.”

We were so pleased to see how much people enjoyed the challenge and are already looking forward to the next one! A big thank you to everyone who took part and made 100k Your Way a success.
