10 years of supporting East Riding residents to go smokefree

Quitting success rates see increase from 14% to 23% as 1 million smokers #QuitForCovid
Our YOURhealth service is celebrating their 10th year promoting Stoptober and supporting local residents to give it a try, to go 28 days smokefree!
It’s not too late to join the thousands of others giving Stoptober a go this year, to help improve your physical and mental health and breath better this winter.
Stoptober reminds those hoping to quit that they’re not alone, as they will be joining over 1 million people across the country this month.
In addition, those looking for support to quit would be reassured by data released in the UCL Smoking Toolkit Study, which illustrates that the proportion of smokers in England who have successfully quit smoking has risen from 14% to 25% in the last year, an increase of over two thirds.
Natalie Belt, YOURhealth Service Manager at Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust, said:
“For many, we know the last 18 months have been incredibly challenging. There were incredible numbers of people quitting smoking last year to help protect themselves from the harms of Covid-19. However, we know there are many that have since relapsed, simply due to the stressors they’re facing as a result of the pandemic.
Stoptober is a great opportunity to give it another go and attempt 28 days smokefree. As we are seeing more people attempt to quit smoking, and more people be successful than ever before, we hope East Riding residents will have the courage to kick the habit. And when they do, we want them to know that the YOURhealth service is here to support them.”
The YOURhealth service offers nicotine replacement therapy and additional support to help East Riding residents quit smoking for good.
