Children and young people services within our Trust:
Core CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) – Core CAMHS provides a specialist assessment and treatment service to children and young people up to 18 years of age who are experiencing significant emotional or mental health difficulties. CAMHS has clinical care pathways in place to help with problems including depression and mood, eating difficulties, self-harming, severe behaviour problems and psychosis.
Acute (CAMHS) including Inspire – Inspire offers a safe and therapeutic environment for young people aged 13-17 suffering from any form of mental illness who need additional help and support in hospital. The team offer a range of therapeutic interventions and activities, ensuring they work in a compassionate and trauma informed way. The team is made up of a varied multi-disciplinary team (MDT) including nurses, nursing assistants’, social worker, psychologists, medical doctors and occupational therapists. The team work closely with the young people, families and with other professionals and agencies to ensure that the young people receive a full package of care when they are discharged.
Eating Disorder CAMHS – The Eating Disorder Team is made up of health professionals that specialise in the treatment of young people with eating disorders. The team includes specialist nurses and practitioners; a psychologist; a dietitian; a family therapist; a psychiatrist; and an administrator. They provide prompt assessment and intervention for young people and families experiencing eating disorders. They aim to restore physical health and psychological wellbeing by working together in a way that is safe.
Hull and East Riding CAMHS Looked After Team – In the Looked After Team children and young people’s emotional health needs are assessed and they can be offered therapeutic work for trauma and attachment issues by this team, or, if necessary, can be referred on to specialist CAMHS. The team consists of a team leader and two play therapists.
Contact Point - We are a team of experienced clinical team in mental health and learning disability who provide a single point of access for emotional and mental health referrals. The team will help to find the right service for a young person and family to ensure that they get the right support, at the right time and in the right place.
SMASH Programme – This programme is a group-based programme which takes referrals from schools and other parts of the early help, social care and health systems. The programme works with young people aged 10-16 years old who have difficulties with self-regulation, social interactions and emotional resilience and may be at risk of developing mental health problems in the future. SMASH aims to build self-esteem and resilience and provides young people with strategies to cope with every-day stresses, negative feelings, and issues that young people may be faced with at school, at home or online.

Hull Mental Health Support Teams – This team providing early intervention mental health support for children and young people aged 5 – 18 within Hull and East Riding schools and colleges.
East Riding Integrated Specialist Public Health Nursing Service (ISPHNS) and Hull Integrated Public Health Nurses (IPHN) – Both services support children and young people and their families. Their teams include, Health Visitors, School Nurses, public Health Nurses, Nursery Nurses and many more. Health Visitors specialise in working with families with a child aged 0 to 5 to identify health needs as early as possible and improve health and wellbeing by promoting health, preventing ill health, and reducing inequalities. School Nurses offer support in educational settings including schools to young people aged 11-19 (up to 25 for young people with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities). This support includes emotional, sexual, and physical health support to young people.
PSYPHER (Psychosis service for People in Hull and East Riding) - PSYPHER supports young people aged 14 and above, who are distressed by experiences of Psychosis (for example, they may be hearing voices or having beliefs that others do not).
Sensory Processing Service - Humber Sensory Processing Service – This is a specialist service providing support to children who have sensory processing difficulties, which can impact on their daily lives. This team supports children and young people up to the age of 18.
Hull & East Riding Children’s Learning Disability Team – This specialist team of Learning Disability nurses with input from Clinical Psychology, Creative Therapy and Psychiatry. They provide specialist assessment, intervention and advice, supporting children with a learning disability to help them to reach their full potential in relation to social, physical and psychological health needs.
Children’s Therapy Services – This service includes Speech and Language Therapy, Dietetics, Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy for children, young people and their families who live, or go to school, in Hull or the East Riding of Yorkshire. They support children and young people up to the age of 19.
Hull and East Riding Children’s Neurodiversity service - This service also includes Children’s Community Team for Learning Disabilities (CTLD), Autism and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) assessment and diagnosis, Children’s Sensory and Children’s SEND Sleep Support services. It also offers support to children with long-term health conditions. They also offer a ‘Front Door’ service to help children, young people and their families access information, advice and early help. This includes support to access a range of services, that could include assessment for a range of neurodiverse conditions and ADHD.
Humber and North Yorkshire Keyworker Service - The Humber and North Yorkshire Keyworker Service supports children and young people with a learning disability and/or who are autistic, with the most complex needs and are inpatients in, or at risk of being admitted to, a mental health inpatient unit. Our Keyworkers work with children and young people, and their families, to get the right support at the right time. They will make sure that all the local services work together to meet the needs of the children and young people in a holistic and joined-up way.
