Checkin
This Mental Health Awareness Week, we encourage you to check in with your mental health. It is important to understand how you are feeling at the moment and to know that you are not the only one feeling this way.
Our services remain open in Hull and East Yorkshire. If you need support, please take a look at our services below, which are categorised by how you might be feeling, to help you understand what might be best suited for your needs.
If you are in doubt, you can call the Mind information and advice line, which is open 24/7. You can access this using the following options:
- Telephone 01482 240133
- Freephone 0800 138 0990
- Text 07520633447
- You can also reach out via Facebook at @MindHEY
You can also contact your GP to discuss what is available to you and any options for referral.
Alternatively, if you simply want someone to talk to right away, please call Samaritans free on 116 123. Their phone line is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
In order to help you access the right mental health service for your needs, we have developed a traffic light system that you may find useful. The system is split into three groups of Green, Amber, and Red. Each group provides information about mental health services based on the level of care required.
Take a look at each group below:
Green - my mental health could be improved
If you feel like your mental health and wellbeing could be improved, there are many options available to you, to help you feel your best.
This includes apps, online platforms, telephone advice lines and local community groups you can join for support and connection with others.
Amber - professional support would be helpful to me
If you are feeling overwhelmed, like things are getting on top of you often, or if your behaviours and routines have changed recently and this is negatively affecting how you carry out your life and activities, it is worth looking into what avenues of support are available and how they might help you.
Red - I need urgent help now
If you are experiencing feelings of crisis, such as suicidal thoughts, self-harm or frequent panic attacks or flashbacks, please seek help as soon as possible.
If you need urgent medical assistance or are in danger of harming yourself or others now, please call 999 or go to your local A&E department.
Our Mind advice and information line is available 24/7 for those who are unsure of where to turn, and can be accessed by called (01482) 240133.
Alternatively, our Mental Health Response Service can be accessed by calling (01482) 301701.
COVID-19 Pandemic impact
We understand that the Covid-19 pandemic has impacted everyone in different ways, and this may have resulted in a decline in your mental health. We encourage you to take a look at the options for mental health support using our traffic light system.
You can also look for other avenues of support, such as for issues around debt, drugs and alcohol, loneliness and homelessness, on our Additional Support page.
