Originally I got involved with the local GP practice via the Patients Practice Group.

Liaising with the Practice on issues raised by patients on the service they were experiencing which had been heavily influence by covid, I soon realised that many of these issues could only be addressed at Trust level. It seemed the natural next step to try and become a Governor so as I could have a hear directly from the management Board and have a voice at that forum.

I have lived in East Yorkshire for nearly 50 years Worked in Hull for many years but I am now retired. I am a member of the local Patient Practice Group. I am a keen gardener who tries to keep active with daily walks whilst evenings are spent reading books downloaded from the local library.

I was elected as a Governor for the Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust due to my extensive background in healthcare advocacy, community engagement, and governance. My dedication to addressing health inequalities and driving positive change within healthcare systems made her a standout candidate.

My experience as a biomedical scientist, community ambassador, school governor, voluntary advisory to Humberside Police, plus a chairman and trustee for various charitable healthcare-related organisations showcases my commitment to improving healthcare services and reducing health inequalities for residents in East Yorkshire-North Yorkshire, Humber, rural, and coastal communities.

My ability to assess statistical data and raise concerns on behalf of the community demonstrates her understanding of NHS data and her commitment to ensuring transparency and accountability within the Trust.

As a Governor, my is committed to evaluating all cause and effect on health and trust management-related matters and advocating for vital changes that benefit residents. My strategic leadership skills, stakeholder engagement experience, and policy advocacy makes me well-equipped to contribute to the Trust's mission of delivering high-quality care and promoting the well-being of patients, carers, and communities.

My involvement in various community initiatives and my unique perspective as a disabled woman and mother to a disabled young adult further enrich her ability to advocate for inclusive healthcare services that cater to the diverse needs of the community.

My roles as a trustee and governor, I has achieved significant milestones in increasing community engagement, implementing governance measures, and facilitating collaborative initiatives, which have led to tangible improvements in resident satisfaction scores and reductions in health disparities among underserved populations.

My experience in leadership, management, and governance, coupled with her ability to analyse complex information and drive evidence-based initiatives, alongside a kind and compassionate approach, will  make me a valuable asset to the Humber Teaching NHS Foundation Trust.

I stood for election because I am passionate about the NHS and very concerned about the way the NHS is run and the apparent deterioration of service within the NHS and GP services in general, such as demand, Patient Care, Waiting Times, and Costs.

I would like to see the NHS better funded for those who need its service and those brilliant nurses and doctors at the front line—not for massive salaries for those at the top, but fair pay for the workforce.

I was born with the NHS in 1948, and millions of British people paid their dues for the “free at point of use” service. Its principle was great at that time, but we cannot continue to pour money into something that is gradually decaying because of its growing patient population. Reform is a must.

I am still working at 75 because I enjoy being mentally active, but sometimes find it difficult to obtain employment due to my age.
My Interests are Swimming, Snooker, and Computers.

I stood for election as public Governor for the East Riding as I believe I can represent the interests of Trust members in holding the Non-Executive Directors individually and collectively to account for the performance of the Board of Directors.

I have worked in the NHS for 44 years in range of roles and believe my knowledge, and experience can make a positive contribution as a member of the Council of Governors and to the Trust

I am a Registered General Nurse and still practice, working as bank nurse on a Community Hospital ward.

I remain as passionate about the NHS today as when I started my training as a student nurse in the 1970’s.

My interests include spending time with my family, keeping grandchildren amused, walking, reading and collecting vinyl records .
